The term Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI) refers to the unwanted release of urine during coughing, sneezing or physical exertion. The cause of this condition is often the reduced stability of the connective tissue and a loss of the supportive connection of the urethra.

It is a fairly common disorder among women after their first birth (24% to 29%) and among women in menopause because of the reduction in oestrogen production. Similarly, frequent movement during strenuous activities can lead to the development of athletic incontinence.

In women with stress incontinence, the metabolism of the connective tissue is altered, causing reduced collagen production, which in turn can lead to insufficient support in the area of the urogenital tract.

The Juliet laser treatment leads to a regeneration of the connective tissue, which results in improved urethral closure. The attenuation of the symptoms can be observed immediately after the first treatment and the symptoms of Stress Urinary Incontinence are significantly reduced as a result of the stimulating action of the laser on the mucosa. This action continues its beneficial effect even after the treatment is finished and, for this reason, many women report further improvements during the first month post-treatment.
